In St. Margrethen, where HIAG was founded in 1876 as a timber trading company, Stadler Rail’s new factory now forms a cross-generational hub for the economic development of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley.
Stadler has made long-term plans for St. Margrethen and will generate economic momentum for the whole region with the new competence centre for double-decker multiple-unit trains. Other railway vehicles are also expected to be built in St. Margrethen later on. This clear commitment to the Swiss workplace, that offers stability and substantial efficiency gains, should significantly strengthen Stadler Rail's competitiveness.
